I don’t want to embarrass myself
Mind control?!
How does this work?
I will be asleep or unconscious
I can’t be hypnotized
What if I get stuck in a hypnotic state?
I won’t be able to hear or speak
I don’t want to give up my secrets
Hypnotic states are states of mental focus. Your awareness and focus increases deeply, typically focused on your internal mindscape. Some people bring that focus to bear on physical performance, often described as a flow state. Regardless, if you have ever been in a book, movie or conversation and lost track of time or felt the world drift away, you have been in a hypnotic state.
In the hypnotic state it will be easier to visualize things, and you will be able to interact with your subconscious mind much more directly. The session my revolve around that interaction which will happen as metaphores. Or you may wish to have a posthypnotic suggestion, which is a suggestion that you want to receive which will change your point of view or reaction to something. People have famously used post hypnotic suggestions to change eating habits or quit smoking. The work done in hypnotherapy creates a new path you can choose to follow, and this includes the suggestion. The choice to follow the path becomes easier, and sometimes it is MUCH stronger than the desire to keep with the old habit.
You won't say or do anything unless you want to. No mind control, no revealing or doing anything unless you want to. You are awake, and can hear or speak, though you may not want to. Since the hypnotic state is a choice, you won't be stuck in it any more than you may be 'stuck' in bed when you are very comfortable and don't want to leave it.
