Memory Recovery With Hypnosis
Can I trust it?
Short answer first:
Nope. You cannot. But you may be surprised at how inaccurate non-recovered memories are as well. So what is it useful for? All the same things normal memory is useful for. Memory recovery, also called hypnotic regression can be a profound experience that has a strong positive influence on your life.
Long answer:
If you need to remember a password, phone number, address or combination lock number you can absolutely try hypnosis. There is no guarantee of success, but it can be successful.
If you want to recover a memory from childhood, or discover some childhood event that subconsciously affects you today, the ‘memory’ you recover may have no basis in fact. Or it can be just as reliable as your memory of what you did yesterday. Neither you nor the hypnotist can control what it will be. Your mind will create based past experiences that may be from multiple different times, and imagination may fill in the rest.
The value of what the mind does in a hypnotic regression (the process of recovering a memory) is potentially invaluable. Your mind will create what it needs to heal. The memory will feel real. Others from your life at that time my be able to confirm it, or they may refute it. In either case the impact of experiencing the regression is often profound.
So what about past life regressions? As you can see from the above, if reincarnation is not real, the value of the experience remains immense, as your mind has created what it needed to heal. No strong position on the truth of past life regression is needed. For you it can be real, or you can treat it as a cathartic dream.
The resulting improvement in peoples lives after a regression, be it current life or past life, happens without bearing on any verifiable objective truth of the experience.
I will gladly accept your position on the matter and defer to your judgement regarding your experience.
